DOJ Joins FCA Case Against NYC Dept. of Education
The Department of Justice intervened in a whistleblower case against the New York City Department of Education alleging that the DOE overbilled Medicaid for counseling services provided to special education students. According to the allegations, the DOE billed Medicaid for counseling services provided to students even when it failed to meet Medicaid rules requiring at least two sessions per month. The suit seeks over $2 million in treble damages, penalties and costs.
